Below please find general information on BNP Paribas Cardif in Poland products and coronavirus effects.

Insured in the event of a viral disease, epidemic, pandemic is covered by insurance under our products. We cover these risks under the conditions described in the insurance contract and the GTC, including:

  • expiration of the exclusion period,
  • signing a true statement about your health condition,
  • submitting the required medical documents.

We treat the coronavirus as if it was a disease such as flu.

Insurance protection covers the following risks:

Death
BNPP Cardif pays death claim as a result of coronavirus, if the conditions set out in the GTC are met. Coronavirus as a cause of death is included in the scope of insurance protection.
Our clients are protected all over the world. The official recommendations of national authorities regarding travel restrictions do not affect the limitation of the liability of BNPP Cardif.

Total and permanent disability to work
If you have a certificate of total and permanent disability to work due to the effects of a coronavirus, BNPP Cardif will pay the claim.

Temporary disability to work
If you are on sick leave and are entitled to sickness benefit due to coronavirus infection, the standard claim procedure applies. If all the conditions for payment of the claims are met, BNPP Cardif will pay the claim.
The quarantine period is included in the period of temporary disability to work, if it is confirmed by sick leave and the payment of sickness benefit and also ends with confirmation of coronavirus infection, which will result in continuation of sick leave. The quarantine period itself is not a reason to pay the claim, because the claim is paid after minimum 30 days disability to work.
If the Customer enters the insurance once the coronavirus has been positively diagnosed, BNPP Cardif will not pay the claim.
If the Customer enters the insurance before being diagnosed with the coronavirus, BNPP Cardif will pay the claim if the Customer has a confirmed coronavirus infection after the exclusion period and the conditions for payment of the claim are met.

Job loss
If you are insured and have lost your job (according to the GTC - termination of the employment contract by the employer) or if you run a business and declare bankruptcy as a result of coronavirus, BNPP Cardif will pay the claim in accordance with the GTC. If you sign up for insurance during a coronavirus epidemic, BNPP Cardif will pay you a claim if the exclusion period has expired from the date you entered into the insurance contract or the date of termination of the employment contract or bankruptcy.

Joining insurance
If you are in quarantine or have contacted a person suspected of being infected, an infected person or are awaiting for the result of a coronavirus test - you cannot sign a good health statement in which you confirm that, except for preventive care, your health does not require regular supervision or treatment.
